When Poland decided to transition it’s urban transportation system to electric, Dometic’s fully electric, engine-independent refrigeration technology was chosen for a project to develop a state-subsidized electric transportation system.
At the beginning of 2021 a Polish start-up, EV Fleet, started working on an innovative vehicle based on the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. The vehicle features the Dometic Frigo DC among other pioneering products. The SmartVan IoT is an intelligent vehicle with its own operating system, allowing for full integration with customer systems. The data generated by the vehicle will be collected by the EV Fleet team and used to prepare the analyses necessary to optimize logistics processes in city distribution. Dometic Frigo DC is a game changing, totally electric cooling system for temperature-controlled transportation. It is an transport refrigeration kit that does not rely on the engine and does not require a roof-mounted structure.
The system operates on 12V, utilizing the vehicle’s battery rather than engine.
The Dometic Frigo DC is fully electric. It has a powerful electric compressor without mechanical construction. This technology is currently the only to offer a way to install cooling systems in the ever-growing fleet of electric cars.
The recent test carried out by the EV Fleet team, in which the vehicle drove 200 km through Warsaw and its suburbs with a full load of 3490 kg, proved the Dometic Frigo DC could keep the desired temperature in the cargo area between 2 and 8 °C for the duration of the journey.
